Sharia Supervisory Board
Prof. Dr. Ali Ebrahim Al Rashid
Professor Ali Ebrahim Al Rashid is a Professor at the Department of Jurisprudence at the Sharia College of Kuwait University.
Prof. Al Rashid is an esteemed member on many Sharia Supervisory Boards for banks, investment and finance entities and insurance companies, including Boubyan Bank, Ahli United Bank and Warba Bank in Kuwait, Dar Bank in Dubai, Rasameel Investment, Al Mulla Finance Company, Hayat Investment Company, National Leasing and Finance Company, Ammar Finance and Leasing Company, Emirates Reinsurance Takaful Company, Kuwait Qatar Insurance Company and Dar Al Salam Takaful Insurance Company. He is also a Member of the Shariah Board for the Accounting and Auditing Organization for Islamic Financial Institutions (AAOIFI), and was a Member of the Monitoring and Auditing Team of the General Secretariat of Endowments for the year 2007.
Professor Rashid is also an Arbitrator accredited by the Ministry of Justice in judicial arbitration - Islamic banks, and a former member of the Sharia Board of the General Secretariat of Endowments and has conducted a multitude of published research in academic journals as being the author of several books including "Contemporary Financial Transactions" and "Money and Banks in Islamic Sharia" as well as assisting in the preparation of the book: "Your Guide to Islamic Economics, Principles and Applications" and participating in preparing a guide to media fatwas which was printed by the Kuwaiti Ministry of Awqaf. He also conducts various academic courses.
He holds a Doctorate in Sharia with honors and a Master’s degree in Sharia from Dar Al-Uloom Faculty, Cairo University, in the Arab Republic of Egypt and a Bachelor’s degree in Jurisprudence and its Fundamentals from the Faculty of Sharia and Islamic Studies at Kuwait University.
Prof. Dr. Abdul Aziz Khalifa Al Qassar
Prof. Dr. Abdul Aziz Khalifa Al Qassar is a Professor of Comparative Jurisprudence
at the Faculty of Sharia and Islamic Studies at Kuwait University. He was a Faculty
member at the Faculty of Sharia and Islamic Studies of Kuwait University from
1997 until 2017, and served as Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Graduate
Studies and Research at the Faculty of Sharia and Islamic Studies at Kuwait
University between 2001 to 2005.
Professor Al Qassar holds a doctorate degree in comparative jurisprudence from the Faculty of Sharia and Law from Al-Azhar
University, Cairo, Arab Republic of Egypt in 1997 and is a member of the Fatwa
and Shari'a boards of several institutions and Islamic banks in Kuwait and abroad.
He is also a renowned lecturer in Islamic finance and has published numerous
research and religious studies in Islamic jurisprudence and contemporary financial
transactions.
Dr. Mohammed Abdulsalam
Dr. Abdulsalam is the Head of Sharia and is the Corporate Secretary at GFH. Prior to joining GFH in 2006, Dr. Abdulsalam worked with some of the most prestigious Islamic financial institutions in Bahrain. He was a Sharia Auditor at Kuwait Finance House (KFH) and an Internal Auditor at Bahrain Islamic Bank (BisB).
Dr. Abdulsalam obtained his Islamic Accounting Bachelorette in 2003 from Al-Imam Mohammed Ibn Saud University in Saudi Arabia. He is also a holder of an Accounting and Financial Control MBA and a PhD in Accounting from the United States, California. He also holds a Masters of Sharia and Accounting Standards from AAOIFI, and the Sharia Control Fatwa of Islamic banks.
